Beamline front-end equipment is characterized by the requirement to withstand extreme radiation and heat load under ultra-high vacuum conditions. Therefore, these components are typically made of copper, glidcop, CuCrZr or tungsten, which offer very good thermal and vacuum properties but are challenging to machine.
