This high precision SAXS camera was constructed for beamline ID02 at the ESRF, and consists of a 33 m long vacuum tube, made of stainless steel and with a diameter of 2 m, where the detector can move along the beam (30 m) and in the perpendicular plane (200 mm in each direction). The detector is kept at ambient conditions inside a carrier wagon weighing in excess of 2 T. In the middle section of the tube the rails had a measured parallelism of 0.02 mm over a length of 6720 mm. Motion precision was 500 μm over 33 m.
Working pressure: 1E-3mbar.
